Church of Christ
Floyd Flower Power has been transforming the lawn of the Floyd Church of Christ, which borders Route 8, in order to bring smiles to everyone driving along the main road.
Five native trees and seven native bushes were planted on March 26, and the Floyd Friends of Asylum Seekers volunteered time to clear the bank.
On April 16th, over 2,400 wildflower plugs were planted. The 1.5-acre meadow will be mowed a mere once a year, primarily to keep invasive shrubs from getting a foothold.
For the rest of the year, native plantings including columbine, milkweed, asters, and lupine will grow and bloom without the need for any soil additives.
